My Mother-in-Law!!!

I only knew Chris for 7 and a half years but as far as mother-in-law’s go, she wasn’t half bad! ;-) There are many people who knew Chris for many more years and have many more memories of her, but here are some of mine. She loved her job, which I could never quite get my head around as I’ve never felt the same way about any of my jobs. She had many friends at work and was well liked and respected. On the odd occasion when we popped in to her office with Lottie, she was very proud to show Lottie off to her colleagues. She was very active, and enjoyed doing keep fit and badminton. She had a huge circle of friends with whom she enjoyed socialising with and catching up with regularly. She loved dancing and at various parties we went to she would spend the night dancing away! She was quite sentimental when it came to parting with clothes or old pieces of furniture and I remember her getting tearful when her and Fred parted with their old dining table. She would buy new things but keep the labels on them just in case she changed her mind and wanted to return them. I used to tease her about still having dresses in the wardrobe that she had made 15 years previous. She just used to laugh. She loved her grandchildren and the saddest thing for me to see was that once the illness prevented her from being able to talk, she was not able to read stories to them or play games with them anymore, as they are things that I know Chris would have loved to have done with the girls. We went on various days out with Chris and Fred – to farms, the zoo, the seaside, the London aquarium, to the pantomime, and you could see the pleasure that Chris got from being out with the girls and experiencing these special times with them. She loved her holidays and was always going away somewhere. She especially liked her cruises. She went on many of those with her Mum. She just liked life and wanted to do and see as much as she could. It was heart-breaking to see her become ill. From the woman she was to the woman she became - it seemed so unfair that everything she enjoyed doing was taken away from her. She will be sorely missed by so many people but at least she is no longer suffering and I believe she is up there dancing away with all the other angels. Sweet dreams Chris – you will be forever in my thoughts x x x x
